The Ultimate Guide to an Adventurous, Luxurious Overseas Retirement...
Spend Up to 5 Times Less, Enjoy Life Far More
This Book Shows You How to Do It... and It Can be Yours FREE
Dear Reader,
There’s more to it than that, of course, but that’s the basic essence of it.
In the best retirement destinations overseas, you can enjoy scenic views and better weather… You could have access to quality healthcare you can afford, a housekeeper to clean for you, funds to travel and eat out whenever you want… and true financial stability. No more worries about outspending your retirement income or outlasting your savings, because in the best overseas destinations, you can spend up to five time less than you may be spending right now, and enjoy a far better lifestyle.
Two Big Ways Your Dollar Goes 5 Times (or More) Further Overseas:
On a median home price of $250,000, the average U.S. property tax in 2018 is $3,498.
In Mexico, your property tax on a home valued at $250,000 is just $250 – nearly 14 times less than in the U.S.
In the U.S. this year (2019), the average health insurance premium per month for one person, age 60, is $543.
In Costa Rica, health insurance through The CAJA national health program can cost as little as $50 a month for a couple—more than ten times less the cost of insuring one person in the U.S.
And this is just the beginning… In their new book, Suzan and Dan will show you dozens of ways and dozens of places where you’ll see even more savings just like these.
No one knows more about overseas retirement than International Living senior editors, Suzan Haskins and Dan Prescher. Back in the 1990s, and living in Omaha, Nebraska, they were dreaming of retiring to a place with a better climate, a slower pace of life, and a lower cost of living.
In 2001, they decided to stop procrastinating and start living the life they’d been dreaming about. So with their 90-pound chocolate lab, Jack, and a few special possessions tucked into four suitcases, they landed in Quito, Ecuador.
Over the last 18 years, they’ve lived in 7 communities in 4 different countries. And they’ve traveled to far more than that in their research and reporting for International Living. They’ve learned a thing or two about what it takes to truly settle in and make a rewarding life overseas.
As Dan says, “We can’t imagine what life would have been if we hadn’t done this. We’ve lived in a lush, green high-mountain valley… we’ve lived next to the Pacific Ocean and next to a 50-mile long lake… in the stunning colonial highlands of Mexico… and in a couple of truly world-class cosmopolitan cities. The experiences we’ve had, and friends we’ve made along the way… have enriched our lives in a way I can’t even begin to explain.”
I’m Jackie Flynn, publisher of International Living. I’ve been following Suzan and Dan’s journey since it began. I’ve read the many articles they’ve written over the years and watched the videos they’ve produced and their interviews on network television. I’ve seen them share their experiences and their tips and advice with others looking to do what they’ve done: live richer and spend less in an exotic, fair-weather, good-value destination overseas.
Suzan and Dan say one of the most welcome aspects of life overseas is becoming part of an expat “tribe” of like-minded people from various backgrounds but with a similar interest in living life richly and happily.
So when Suzan and Dan told me they were ready to write their second book on this topic, I was all for it. Their previous book, written in 2014, quickly went to the top of Amazon’s best-seller list.
This time out, they’ve written an even more definitive guide that will help any reader understand all the nuances, thought processes, and necessary steps you need to take to successfully make a life journey of this kind.
Let me explain why Live Richer, Spend Less—International Living’s Ultimate Guide to Retiring Overseas belongs in your library if you’ve ever toyed with the idea of living overseas, even for just part of the year.
You Can Have it All—Climate, Culture, and Convenience—
at a Fraction of Retirement Costs in the U.S. or Canada Today.
As I’ve already said, Suzan and Dan have more experience than anyone I know when it comes to identifying the best strategies, the best locations, and the best reasons for a successful move abroad.
This New Book By Amazon Best-Selling Authors Belongs in Your Library.
This is the second (and all-new) book on retiring overseas written by Suzan Haskins and Dan Prescher. Their previous book instantly topped Amazon’s best-seller list. Make no mistake: This one is jam-packed with even more practical and updated information, and it’s expected to be in even more demand.

They understand what makes for the best possible experience. As Dan says, “In my mind it’s a combination of 4Cs: climate, culture, convenience, and cost. What that means to each individual is a bit different. But there are plenty of attractive places in the world where you can enjoy fabulous weather, really vibrant and intriguing cultural activities, all the best modern comforts, including excellent healthcare… and all this can be had for a fraction of what it costs to retire in the U.S. or Canada these days.”
For instance, he says, “In Ecuador, we paid $52,000 to buy our 1,100-sq.ft. penthouse condo with a knock-out view of the Andes Mountains. We didn’t pay rent, but had an HOA fee of $100 a month. When we weren’t traveling, just staying home and enjoying life, our total expenses rarely topped $1,400—and that included everything… utilities, internet, cable TV, dining out often, groceries and wine… you name it. And today as Mexico residents, we enjoy similar low costs.”
In Live Richer, Spend Less—International Living’s Ultimate Guide to Retiring Overseas, Suzan and Dan distill their years of experience into a well-researched—and real-world—resource that helps you understand why retiring overseas makes sense for so many reasons.
In addition to enriching your finances, you can improve your health, enjoy new experiences, and create a life you love.
You’ll gain the practical tools you need to help you see why a life abroad can make so much sense. You’ll be able to make rational decisions and understand if the overseas lifestyle is really for you—and if it is, the best way to go about it… to find a good fit, given your interests, priorities, budget, and dreams…
Maybe, like Jim and Jen (their story is in the book), you’ll find you can upgrade your lifestyle yet retire way earlier than you ever expected.
At ages 56 and 49, they were stressed out by time-consuming work that was taking a toll on Jen’s health. They had accumulated a decent amount of savings, but they were worried it might not be enough to enjoy the good things in life… dining out often, fine wine, golf, shopping, spa treatments, luxury travel… They didn’t want to sacrifice in retirement.
Time and Money to Do What You Want… Even on a Social Security Income
“Finally, our retirement gives us the time to take advantage of those things we could not do before and we don´t want to waste one minute. Fortunately, our life outside the U.S. costs only a fraction of our previous lives so we have ample money to enjoy life, even on one social security check. And that´s with a housekeeper, plenty of restaurant meals and travel included. (In fact, we even built a house out-of- pocket which we could never have done in the States.)” – Don Murray, living in the Yucatan, Mexico
Some years before, they’d bought a small home in Merida, the capital of Mexico’s Yucatán state as an investment and with an eye to their future retirement, which at the time they thought was many years down the road.
Finally, Jen’s persistent health issues couldn’t be neglected. Her doctor told her: “There are only so many medications I can prescribe. You know what the root problem here is… you have to do something about your stress levels.”
So Jim and Jen discussed it and put pen to paper and tallied up all their assets… the house, furniture, and cars they could sell, the savings they’d tucked away, and his monthly pension…
Two weeks later, Jen submitted her resignation and a couple of months after that, she and Jim were happily retired in beautiful, historic Merida, where the cost of living, they report, is at least 50% less than it was back in the States.
They’ve now bought a new, bigger home. Jim has joined a golf club, Jen volunteers with the local art walk. And best of all, her health issues have resolved, and she says she feels healthier than ever. “I’m on far less meds, and no longer have headaches. And I’m sleeping well for the first time in a long time,” she says.
“We still go to Costco a lot for good steaks and wine, and we just bought a brand-new car that was cheaper than what we priced it at in the U.S. I am so happy we took the plunge and did this. We are loving our retirement in Mexico.”
You Couldn’t Live this Well Back Home,
Especially Not at the Beach!
Another couple we know—Canadians from Montreal—dreamed of living by the water. But they couldn’t afford the high price tag of a beach home in Canada or the U.S. And, of course they were looking for a year-round better climate.
Relax and Indulge Yourself…
The average cost for someone to clean your home in the U.S. is $25-$50 an hour.
In Panama, you’ll pay $30 a day—7 to 13 times LESS than the U.S.
Along the Pacific Coast of Panama, they found what they were looking for: day-in/day-out warm weather, a golf course, an equestrian center, loads of great restaurants, three shopping centers with several upscale 24-hour supermarkets, and a modern medical clinic.
And the best part? The low price tag. Their total monthly living expenses in Panama amount to less than $1,500. They don’t have rental costs since they own their home, but that figure includes utilities, insurance, gas for the car, medical bills… even food and entertainment.
In many places around the world, you really can enjoy a champagne lifestyle on a beer budget. The kind of high-end living that might set you back $10,000 a month or more in a big city in the U.S. could be one-fifth that in the right places abroad.
Keith Hockton and his wife, Lisa, live in a stunning ocean-view apartment in Penang. And their total cost of living is just $1,719 a month.
In Penang, Malaysia, for instance, Keith Hockton and his wife Lisa rent a stylish three-bedroom, three-bath sea-view apartment for $950 a month. “It comes with a shared pool and gym. We eat out five nights a week, and our total budget is $1,719 a month. Two people can have a three-course meal here for $10. A bagful of fresh fruit costs around $4. We also have a maid that comes once a week for four hours at a cost of $15.”

You Drastically Cut
Your Expenses

But when you know where to go, you’ll find that you, too, can upgrade your lifestyle and live far richer than you do now, yet spend far less than it would cost you to stay home.
The beach… a mountain hideaway… a culturally rich city… a lakeside retreat… Whatever you daydream about when you imagine that “someday” life… You really could have it in the right spot overseas.
In Live Richer, Spend Less—International Living’s Ultimate Guide to Retiring Overseas, Suzan and Dan show you the way.

Michael and Suzanne (you’ll meet them in the book) have yet to settle down. They spent last winter in warm, sunny Manzanillo.
One of them stems from the old proverb “a rolling stone gathers no moss,” credited to a guy named Publilius Syrus (85-43 B.C.). He used this metaphor to refer to “people who are always moving, with no roots in one place or another, avoiding responsibilities and cares.”
Doesn’t sound half bad, does it? Suzan and Dan describe the “rolling stone” or “roving retiree” lifestyle as one of the fastest-growing trends they’re seeing among their expat friends.
If you’ve ever wanted to see the world…and do it in the most carefree, most affordable way possible, this chapter will motivate you to get started.
Plus, you’ll discover six other emerging trends that are making it easier and less costly to enjoy the retirement of your dreams…from any place on the planet you want to be.
You’ll gain all this—and much more. Suzan and Dan show you exactly what a $2,000 a month budget can include, and they provide experienced recommendations, tips, advice, hard-won strategies for success.

You’ll Be Handed Lots of Options Where You Can Live Well for $24,000 a Year…
In the right community in the right country, it’s more than possible to live in a charming condo or villa with a gorgeous ocean view, where you can buy a week’s supply of fresh produce from the local farmer’s market for just $10…hire a housekeeper or gardener…and live well on a budget of as little as $2,000 a month, rent included…
Is Old World Europe calling you? This book shows you how to make it yours…

Don’t Worry About Healthcare
According to many studies, many of the world’s countries. enjoy better, more affordable healthcare than the U.S. Best of all, it’s far more affordable.
Expat John Michael Arthur, a former Dallas doctor, lives in one of these countries, where he says, “High-quality healthcare—medical, surgical, and dental—is easily found in the private system at about one-third the cost of U.S. prices.”
In their new book, Suzan and Dan introduce you to the countries with the best healthcare systems, and explain how an overseas retirement can actually improve your health.
And each month in International Living magazine, we’ll keep you up to date on new trends in healthcare and other overseas opportunities.
